Anacortes Fiber Optic Internet Will be Available to Creekside...

...someday.

As many are aware, the City of Anacortes has been planning to offer high speed internet service to its residents and businesses.  I contacted them to find out if this would include Creekside and what the installation time frame would be.  Here is their answer:

Hi Dave,

Thank you for your interest in Access – Anacortes Fiber Internet! Yes, I’m familiar with Creekside Village. We do plan on making fiber Internet available to every home and business in Anacortes. This includes Creekside! However, I don’t have an estimated time of arrival for your neighborhood at the moment. Currently, we are approved by City Council to install customers in the Central Business District, Old Town, and a stretch of M Avenue near Island Hospital. We expect that this will take us into the summer. After that, we are hoping to gain approval to enter a handful of neighborhoods that we have deemed to be low hanging fruit in terms of the ease of installation method and the proximity to our existing infrastructure. This should fill up our schedule for the remainder of 2020.

Beyond that plan, we are committed to a goal of installing customers in every neighborhood of Anacortes by 2023. One factor of the planning process is the number of pre-orders in each neighborhood. This helps us to remain fiscally responsible as we expand our service footprint. I highly recommend promoting that residents in Creekside who are interested in fiber begin placing pre-orders so that we have a record of their interest. Non-binding pre-orders can be placed by filling out an order form at this link: https://www.anacorteswa.gov/984/Access---Anacortes-Fiber-Internet

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. We truly value your support and look forward to working with you.

With gratitude,

Note that installation of fiber optic internet service by the city in Creekside Village will also require approval by and coordination with the Creekside Board.  At the present time, there are unknowns.  These include who will bear the cost of bringing the fiber optic cable through Creekside to our homes.  Future discussions will be needed to work out all of the details.
